Wouldn’t it be nice if lasting positive change would take place at the click of a button?

Poor food choices, “click.”

Outbursts of anger, “click.”

Panic attacks, “click.”

Burdened with discouragement, “click.”

If you’ve lived into adulthood you have likely come to realize that real change requires more. Rarely is change effortless.

On the other hand, it is overly cynical to think you can’t change. Change is possible.

I tell my kids (and secretly remind myself), “A bad attitude is like a flat tyre, you won’t get anywhere until you change it.”

Although change is usually not easy it is sometimes easier than I realise. For example, I’ve learned that one of the best ways to change my attitude is by replacing it with a different attitude.

How do you do that?

It is as simple as “Subscribing” to good messages in order to “Unsubscribe” from bad messages. Think about that little button at the bottom of marketing emails or youtube channels.

I like to think of this exercise as “changing the flat tyre of my bad attitude.” For example:

Unsubscribe from Timidity. SUBSCRIBE to Strength.

Unsubscribe from Discouragement. SUBSCRIBE to Courage.

Some people call these “Declarations” and I think they are a great way to unsubscribe from the bad by subscribing yourself to the good. Here are a few I encourage myself with.

“I am getting better every day and in every way.”

“I love God with passion and love people on purpose.”

“God knows me. God made me. God loves me.”
