Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.

Benjamin Franklin

I have found the above words attributed to Benjamin Franklin as a helpful reminder. I sometimes need memorable axioms that may not convey all there is to know about a subject, yet help me to emphasize one aspect of a complex subject.

Remembering the value of sleep and the fact my best work is often done in the morning helps me to live in a way that maximizes my energy and health.

Time magazine wrote of studies that found that poor sleep habits have links to obesity, heart attack, a higher rate of early death and even lower brainpower.

With four kids of my own, sleep has become a diminishing commodity. I now find myself often going to sleep before 9 pm because I know that it is highly likely to have multiple interruptions throughout the night culminating in a wake-up call before 6 am, “Daddy!”

Let’s talk about it.
What sleep times work best for you? How do you stay well-rested?
